Seek God's Presence by Erika Sanchez
Hello Brave Hearted Steppers,
Many questioned how can we seek God's Presence?
Seeking God’s face means desiring to know His character and wanting Him—His presence—more than any other thing He can give us. We do not pursue Him only to give Him a list of wants and needs because we know God already knows what we need. Pursuing God’s face is equivalent to developing an intimate relationship with Him. The Lord wants us to humbly and trustingly seek His face in our prayers and in our times in His Word. He also asks us to come as you are and he will meet us in our hiding place. We are conscious of his presence in our lives when we dwell with God. This consciousness can be a feeling of closeness or contentment with God, but it can also be an awareness of God's greatness, power, wisdom, or love. This is when I feel most at home in God's presence.
O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and glory. Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you!”
The Hebrew word for “face” in the Old Testament is often translated as “presence.” When we seek the face of God, we are seeking His presence. The call to seek God’s face was issued to His people because they had abandoned Him and needed to return to Him.
How can you tune into God’s presence? What are the benefits of God's presence?
Be quiet. Many people don’t experience God’s presence because they’re always distracted. Drop out of the noise around you by tuning in to God’s presence several times a day.
Talk to God about everything. Maintain a consistent conversation with God. Nothing should be off-limits.
Develop the habit of praise. Thank God for who he is and for what he has done for you.
While seeking his presence he provides his Peace and comfort to us. There is no better feeling than being in his presence. It taught me to let go of the things that do not belong to me. His sweet presence is indescribable to the unknown. The fact that God is with us changes everything.
We should always trust that his ways are better than ours. Isaiah 55:9
And as we direct our minds and hearts Godward in all our experiences, we cry out to him. This too is what seeking him means.
Seeking God's presence involves calling and pleading. You want him to remove the curtains of your own blindness and reveal himself because we long to see his face! But Scripture teaches that we are supposed to seek God’s face, his presence, every day, all day. Psalm 105:4 says, “Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!”
Is there something in your life causing you to avoid his presence?
Well, that’s when you seek him more. Recognizing the presence of God in your life changes everything. No matter what you’re going through, he is right there with you, providing companionship, confidence, counsel, and comfort.
So I end with this; What are the ways of seeking God? They are humility through fasting, prayer, immense intake of the word of God, perseverance, worship, obedience, and repentance. It’s never too late to seek Him! He’s waiting for You!
Blessings
