It’s Time to Flourish – Rev. Grace Reyes
Hello Brave Hearted Steppers,
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45 NIV
Definition for servant in Hebrew: attendant, servant, caretaker, all makes sense in reference to what is expected of His people. The first edit of the church was a clear mandate from Christ Himself. Make disciples of all and spread the good news of the gospel to near and far.
What The World Needs Are Willing Servants
What if God’s definition of flourishing had nothing to do with showing it to others, what if your fruit was a silent, ever reaching one. What if you flourish in extending your hands to help those who cannot help themselves and by doing so you are a favored one of God.
What if you grew in knowledge of the word and simply ministered quietly to those who were hurting? You serve quietly in His Kingdom and share so many of the gifts that He has given to you.
We are faced with a dilemma today in the body of Christ, that the church seems to be filled with those that are not willing to grow in God, they come on a Sunday and that is the only thing they are willing to do. During their weekdays they are isolated and lonely but unwilling to pray or fellowship with others in their church. They act as if they are an island unto themselves. God is something they access on Sunday. They remind me of an unwatered garden that is just barely alive, just getting by with their Sunday morning fix.
There is so much more in our walk with God than spectating and there are enormous spiritual rewards that we can tap into when we seek Him with our whole hearts (Jeremiah 29:13). The beauty of our intimacy with the Lord is that he heals our hearts as we enter a deeper relationship with Him.
The Hebrew word for flourish is flower, flourish, bloom, blossom, thrive, prosper. It recalls a beautiful garden like the garden he created when he created man. It was always the intention of the Lord to have us thrive and bloom in Him. He intended for His creation both large and small to flourish and be a source of nourishment for one another.
We, as believers, have the built-in ability to nurture and encourage life in one another. His intention from the beginning was for us to walk in harmony and love for nature and each other. Sin came and destroyed that initial plan but Jesus on the cross has restored it to us.
Since we are restored in Him, and in Him we have life the scriptures reassure us:
"They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit”. Jeremiah 17:8
Let us rejoice and let us be full of fruit to glorify God! We are assured of a life that is everlasting in Him. We can bear glorious fruit when we allow the holy spirit to guide us and direct our walk. Joy is a rose and peace the bouquet. May you carry a bouquet full of both. Flourish.
