BRAVE ACCOUNTABILITY by Lissette Camacho
Hello Brave Hearted Steppers!
Let me start off by saying, wow! This topic of choice for the month was very challenging for me at first. That is, until I found out through my study time what it really means. It's about staying connected to a community of believers.
Can I just tell you how grateful I am for my community of believers? With me living in a new state for close to a year now, I definitely did not start off with having that community. But God!
It can sometimes feel as if we are alone in this world without the body of Christ and that's exactly how it felt. Coming to live in a new state, all I had at first was my best friend from High school and at first, she did not know the Lord.
I was being challenged each day for a few months to push through adversity. Someone whom I love as a sister, was then practicing wicked, seeking mediums and tarot cards. It was so bad and there was such a heaviness in my heart, that some days, it was challenging spending time with her. However, love will have you praying.
One day, during my prayer time with the Lord, complaining about how heavy this was on my heart, the Lord spoke to me and said; Lissette, not everything is about you.
I understood then, that God had a plan. So, I stayed praying and loving my friend, I didn't agree with her lifestyle, but I didn't hide mine. Eventually, my friend, started to desire that relationship with God and she began to go to church with me.
Sunday after Sunday, she attended service with me and when I least expected --she gave her heart to the Lord!! A few months later, I had the privilege of assisting in baptizing her!! All for the glory of God!!
Today, that same friend has renounced all of her former ways of being and has made Jesus her Lord! Hallelujah!!
Today, this same friend, is serving in the church with the Administration department and other ministries alongside of me!
Today, this same friend, is sharing the gospel with her family and anyone God leads her to!
Today, this friend is leading a life group for those who have suffered a loss in their life and bringing God's word, comfort and encouragement to others!
Today, this same friend, encourages me, prays with me and for me. Supports me and lifts me up when I'm feeling down!!
Today, because of my friend, I am now starting to build a foundation at the church and becoming more involved. Her new found faith has been helping me to share my God given gifts with others.
I no longer feel like an outsider at church. I have gained a whole family of believers. Most importantly, God not only changed my best friend from over 40 years, but He has given me a sister in Christ. Someone, who truly knows me, knows my faith. Who doesn't judge me, but helps me and together, we now share the love of Christ with others.
So, yes, iron does sharpen iron. However, had I disregarded the words the Lord spoke to me when we were first trying to remain friends being unequally yoked--I would've never understood this verse in the depths that I know now.
My encouragement to each of you Brave Hearted Steppers --is to pray that God would surround you with a close friend and a community of believers that will help you move forward in all that God has planned and purpose for you.
As the body of Christ, we need each other. With that being said, I will leave you with this:
"[25] Some people have stopped meeting with the group of Christians. But that is not good. We should all continue to meet together. We need to help one another to be strong and brave. That is now even more important, because the Lord's great day is coming. You know that the Lord will return soon."Hebrews 10:25 EASY
Be encouraged. Stay connected. Trust God's plan, even when you don't understand. Believe me when I tell you, He's working everything out for your good.
God bless you,
