Savor the Moment by Lissette Camacho
Hello Brave Hearted Steppers!
Welcome November! I love this month and season of the year! It’s the month in which I take a step back and reflect on everything God has done in my life within the year.
So, it’s not a surprise to me that the inspired verse for this month’s blog-is around being thankful. As I was meditating on the verse of the month, I love the KJV of it.
“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
1 Thessalonians 5:18 KJV
You see, it’s a reminder to us to live a life of thanksgiving. That thanksgiving is not one day of gratefulness-but God calls us to live it out as a lifestyle.
That no matter what we are enduring in life-we should be-thankful. Which means, we shouldn’t just be thankful when things are going great! But also when we are enduring trials. Why? Because Romans 8:28 reminds us that EVERYTHING works out together for good, for those who love God and are called according to His purpose.
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a]have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 NIV
It’s easy to be thankful when all is well, but can you remain in that state of mind when it’s not?
I know that in my life, when I’ve found myself murmuring or complaining or I find myself asking God questions, the Holy Spirit always prompts me to repentance-in which turns my heart into thanking God for all He has done in the past and continues to do.
It’s not that we’re not allowed to have emotions when we’re enduring trials, but it’s because a thankful heart leads us to praise and God is worthy of all praise. We worship Him for who He is and not what He can do.
25 For the Lord is great and certainly worthy of praise,
he is more awesome than[a] all gods.
1 Chronicles 16:25 NET
You see, at the moment that you give God thanks, what you are truly saying is-I trust You Lord and as His children-scripture encourages us by reminding us that-He knows the plans He has for us. Plans to prosper us and not harm us.
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
So, today, I’d like to encourage someone to take a step back, grab your favorite cup of Joe-play your favorite worship songs in the background-light up a fall season scented candle-grab your journal and spend some quite time in the Lord.
Allow yourself to feel the coziness of the fall weather and meditate in your heart and create a journal of thanksgiving. Write out each day something you are thankful for.
Think about everything God has kept you from. Think about all the good He has done. Think about how much more blessed you are because of His love for you and write it down as a reminder to self.
If you ever find yourself tempted to murmur or complain, turn it around and find something positive in the midst of it all and give God-thanks.
We all have something each day- which we can be thankful for and even if you don’t for whatever reasons at that moment in time, focus in knowing that He loves you.
That alone should be more than enough of a reason to have a heart of thanksgiving unto the Father. Remind yourself of John 3:16 and allow that to become your driving force of a thankful heart.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”—John 3:16 KJV
And if you need one more scripture to encourage you in this day. Remember this: Philippians 4:4-6 says:
4Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!
5Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.
6Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
This is the will of God for us: Be thankful.
God bless,

I literally was thinking about this today! It has been amazing to see what a transformation gratitude brings within us as we take the time to acknowledge the goodness of our God!!
