Brave Blogs | Brave Posture Part 1 by Erika Gonzalez
Greetings Brave Hearted Steppers! It is truly a privilege for me to once again share a new blog with you. I also want to thank Maria, Rounder of Brave Hearted Ministry, for this opportunity, always praying that these words will bless your life and strengthen your faith.
The theme of this series is “Brave Posture.” Since Maria graciously gave me this opportunity, we will explore two different stories under the same theme. So, get comfortable and read until the end—I believe this message will encourage your heart.
I always enjoy looking up the meaning of key words related to the topics I write about, and this time I searched for the meaning of the word posture.
According to the dictionary, posture refers to the position in which a person or animal stands or carries themselves, but it can also describe someone’s attitude, perspective, or response toward a situation. We can also connect posture with conviction, because what a person truly believes will eventually shape the way they stand.
From a biblical perspective, posture goes beyond the physical. The Bible speaks not only about physical positions in worship and prayer, but more importantly, about the posture of the heart. We see in 1 Samuel 16: 7 that God is more concerned about the posture of our hearts than outward appearance.
The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 NIV
The Spiritual Posture of the Heart
Scripture reminds us that God looks at the heart above all else. Whether we stand, sit, or kneel, the right spiritual posture includes:
Humility — recognizing God’s authority and our need for His grace.
Obedience — aligning our lives with His truth and His Word.
Faith and expectation — trusting God even when circumstances seem uncertain.
The Foundation of your Identity is that you are a Child of God
In today’s world, maintaining a posture of humility, obedience, faith, and identity can be a bit challenging. Knowing who you are and who you belong to may make others uncomfortable in a society that constantly confuses truth and falsehood—where evil is called good, and God’s truth is often rejected.
Walking confidently in your God-given identity can also attract opposition, jealousy, envy, criticism, lies, and even attempts to discredit or replace you. This immediately reminds me of the story of Joseph.
Joseph was chosen by God, but he could never have imagined the process he would have to endure before stepping into his purpose. As a young man, Joseph received dreams from God that amazed him, and in his innocence, he shared those dreams with his brothers. What he did not yet understand was the preparation required for the calling God had placed on his life.
Even after betrayal, rejection, and being sold by his own brothers, Joseph never lost his identity or his spiritual posture. He understood that the wisdom he carried and his ability to interpret dreams came from God alone.
But Joseph still had to walk through the process.
It was in prison that Joseph’s character was developed. In that painful and uncomfortable place, God was preparing him for something greater than he could imagine. The prison became the training ground for the palace.
Joseph eventually became second in command over an entire nation, but that position was not built in comfort. It was developed through betrayal, pain, suffering, and waiting. Yet at the end of it all, there was also favor, healing, restoration, and reconciliation.
Today, many people speak about trauma and hardship. Joseph’s story reminds us that God can use painful experiences for a greater purpose. What was meant to break him became part of the process God used to position him.
Joseph’s life teaches us that God glorifies Himself in difficult seasons. No matter how much others envy you, oppose you, imitate you, or try to stop you, what God has ordained for your life will prevail. God is greater than every obstacle.
Our responsibility is to continue growing, maintaining the right posture of the heart, and allowing the character of Christ to be formed within us. God’s timing is always perfect.
Perhaps today God is calling you to remain faithful and obedient even in your difficult place—even in what feels like a prison season. Keep serving. Keep trusting. Keep believing.
Because prison seasons do not last forever.
What God has spoken over your life will come to pass. No jealousy, opposition, betrayal, or sabotage can cancel the plans of God for your life. The same God who was with Joseph in the pit, in the prison, and eventually in the palace is the same God walking with you today.
So do not allow hardship to change your identity or weaken your faith. Instead, maintain a Brave Posture—a posture of humility, obedience, courage, and unwavering trust in God.
Even when the process feels painful, God is still working behind the scenes. Every season is shaping you, strengthening you, and preparing you for the purpose He has already ordained for your life.
One day, you will look back and realize that what tried to break you was actually building you.
Stand firm. Keep your heart aligned with God. Your story is not over yet.
God’s timing is perfect, and He is faithful to complete what He started in you.
Thank you for taking the time to read this blog. I invite you to stay tuned for the next part of this series, and I pray it blesses your life just as much as this one did.
