Brave Blogs | Brave Posture Part 2 by Erika Gonzalez

Hello again Brave Hearted Steppers, greetings to everyone. It is a privilege to be here once more, sharing another blog with you. Continuing with the theme of “Brave Posture,” I want to once again thank Maria for the opportunity to share these reflections, always praying that they will bless your lives.

This time, I want to talk to you about the people of God based on the book of Exodus.

The word Exodus literally means “departure”. This story speaks about people just like you and I. It tells us about the people of Israel departing Egypt, a place of slavery, oppression, and suffering.

But first, let me share something that captures my attention: God opened two bodies of water for His people. He opened the Red Sea to bring them out of slavery (Exodus 14:21), and He opened the Jordan River to lead them into the Promised Land (Joshua 3). Both moments reveal God’s power being manifested to move His people from one place to another—from slavery to freedom, from wilderness to promise.

When we think about the people of Israel, we do not usually remember them as brave people, even though they had to become brave. More often, we remember their constant complaints, their fear, and the way they had become accustomed to living in bondage. After 430 years in Egypt, the hope of freedom had faded. Their normal life was slavery in a foreign land. Faith had weakened, and many no longer expected to see a free generation. Yet, I still like to believe that somewhere, someone was still praying.

But the day finally came.

The day of deliverance arrived…, and yet there was still fear, doubt, and many complaints.

Even though God performed wonders before their eyes, they were often dissatisfied with the way He worked. They were expecting God to move according to their own understanding instead of His will. And the same thing can happen to us when our minds become accustomed to pain, hardship, or simply surviving. Faith can slowly fade, and we begin living on “autopilot,” believing thoughts such as: “There is no way out,” or “This is just the life I was given.”

Yet while they were waiting for deliverance, God was already protecting them and preparing the way.

When you read the story, it is powerful to see how the angel of death passed over the homes marked by the blood of the lamb on the doorposts. At that moment, there was no other option but to trust and obey. Following the instructions was a matter of life and death, because what stopped the angel of death from entering their houses was not their nationality, nor simply the fact that they were Israelites—it was the blood.

It is also incredible how, after all the plagues, persecution, and everything they witnessed, when they finally stood before the Red Sea, and it seemed there was no escape, the pillar of fire still covered and guided them.

Although the people struggled with fear and complaining, they still had to learn obedience and position themselves for deliverance. God was teaching them that they could not carry a slave mentality while walking toward freedom.

In Exodus 14:15, God says to Moses:

“Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move forward.”

Position and Courage

When the moment came to cross the Red Sea, the Israelites were afraid. In front of them was the sea, and behind them was Pharaoh’s army. It seemed there was no way out.

Exodus 14:10 says:

“As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the Lord.”

They were afraid. They complained. They doubted.

But even in the middle of fear, they still had to keep moving forward.

And perhaps today you are standing before your own Red Sea. Maybe you are facing a situation where there seems to be no way out. Perhaps something is threatening the purpose of God over your life—fear, opposition, anxiety, attacks, sadness, or circumstances trying to stop you before your time.

But today I want to remind you of something:

The angel of the Lord still goes before you, and the cloud of His presence still covers your back.

Even when you feel trapped, the Lord fights for you.

Just as Moses told the people in Exodus 14:13:

“Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today… The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.”

Today, God is calling you to take a Brave Posture.

A posture of faith even when you do not understand the process.
A posture of obedience even when fear tries to overwhelm you.
A posture of humility and trust while God makes a way where there seems to be none.

Position yourself. Maintain a teachable heart, sensitive to the voice of God, and willing to obey. Because you are closer to your freedom than you realize.

The same God who opened the Red Sea is still making ways today.

And the things that have represented slavery, oppression, fear, or limitation in your life will not remain forever.

Get ready to walk through dry ground.

Get ready to move forward.

Get ready to leave the “Egypt” in your life behind.

Because when you choose to maintain a Brave Posture, God transforms places of desperation into pathways of freedom.

Be strong and courageous. God is still opening seas.

Blessings,

Erika Gonzalez
