Brave Posture: The Posture Every Season Requires by Rev. Maria Guzman
Hello Brave Hearted Steppers,
One of the most challenging parts of walking with God is not recognizing that seasons change.
It is learning how to posture ourselves within them.
Ecclesiastes 3 begins with a powerful reminder:
“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1, NLT)
This verse tells us something important right from the start—God is not surprised by the seasons of our lives. They are not random, rushed, or wasted. They are appointed.
But as I reflected on this passage, I realized something deeper:
Every season does not just bring different circumstances.
Every season requires a different posture before God.
We don’t always get to choose the season we are in.
But we do get to choose how we position our hearts in it.
When the Season Changes, the Posture Must Be Discerned
Ecclesiastes 3 goes on to say there is:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to keep silence and a time to speak.
What stands out is not just the variety of seasons—but the rhythm of them.
Life is not one steady expression.
It is a divine flow of different moments, each requiring wisdom.
And not every season responds to the same posture.
Some seasons require us to stand firm in faith.
Other seasons require us to sit quietly in surrender.
Some seasons require us to grieve honestly before God.
Others require us to rejoice without hesitation.
The challenge is not just surviving the season—it is discerning the posture the season requires.
God Is Working Even When We Don’t Understand
“Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart…” (Ecclesiastes 3:11, NLT)
This verse reminds us that even when life feels unclear, unfinished, or painful, God is still at work.
It does not say everything feels beautiful.
It says God makes everything beautiful in its time.
That means timing is part of God’s process.
There are seasons we understand only in hindsight.
There are seasons that stretch us while we are in them.
There are seasons that feel like waiting—but are actually forming something eternal within us.
And while we wait for clarity, God is still shaping our hearts.
The Posture Every Season Requires
Some seasons require a posture of surrender.
Some require a posture of endurance.
Some require a posture of obedience when it would be easier to run.
Some require a posture of silence when we want immediate answers.
Some require a posture of faith when everything feels uncertain.
And some require a posture of release—letting go of what can no longer go with us into what God is building next.
Spiritual maturity is not pretending every season feels the same.
It is learning to ask:
“Lord, what posture does this season require of me?”
Because the season may not change immediately.
But our posture can.
And often, it is in the right posture that we begin to see God’s purpose more clearly.
God’s Work Is Final and Faithful
“I know that whatever God does is final. Nothing can be added to it or taken from it…” (Ecclesiastes 3:14, NLT)
God is not guessing as He leads us.
He is not revising His plans in panic.
He is not reacting to our circumstances.
He is establishing something that is complete, intentional, and eternal.
Even when we do not understand the process, we can trust the One who holds the outcome.
A Brave Reflection
So today, Brave Hearted Stepper, I want to leave you with a gentle invitation:
What season are you in right now?
And more importantly…
What posture is this season requiring of you?
Not every season is meant to be rushed.
Not every season is meant to be resisted.
Not every season is meant to be explained.
Some seasons are simply meant to be walked through with God—one faithful step at a time.
So may we learn to lean into Him with wisdom.
To wait when He calls us to wait.
To move when He calls us to move.
To speak when He gives us words.
And to be still when He is shaping something deeper in us than we can yet see.
Because the posture we carry in this season may be shaping the strength we will need for the next one.
Always remember:
Every season has a purpose—and every purpose calls for a posture. Lord, help me to stand rightly before You in every season You allow.
Many Blessings,
